A 20 hour per week graduate research assistantship for the calendar year is available for a MS or PhD student in
the Center for Health Promotion, School of Allied Health, the University of Connecticut, Storrs.  The Center for
Health Promotion offers interdisciplinary health promotion programs that serve to prevent and/or attenuate disease and disability progression, restore and maintain improve function, and foster optimal physical and psychological well           being.  Center activities provide a rich resource for faculty and student learning and research that expands the existent
body of scientific knowledge relating to health promotion. By assuming this position, you will be joining a research team headed by Project Director and Principal Investigator, Dr. Linda Pescatello. The graduate assistant Coordinator is
responsible for the general oversight of the development, planning and implementation of health promotion programs designed to enable Pratt & Whitney employees improve their health awareness, knowledge and
status. The Coordinator acts as the primary liaison between the Director of the Center for Health Promotion and
the Pratt & Whitney Medical Director.  Additional responsibilities include establishment of policies and procedures, provision of strategic health and wellness interventions, program evaluation, and related research.

The candidate should have strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, be committed to
 research, and be able to travel to Pratt & Whitney and its affiliates.  A background in health promotion and/or
 nutrition, kinesiology, nursing, clinical psychology or other health related fields is required.  Previous supervisory and
 research experience is preferable.  This graduate research assistantship comes with full tuition waiver and health
 care benefits from the University of Connecticut.
